Site history

This site has been hosted on Drupal 7 since 2011.

Portions of the DITAinformationcenter were previously published and licensed through a Common Public License (CPL) granted by OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) under the name DITA Open Toolkit User Guide.

Site architecture and technology

This site is an example of a content-rich (text, images) information mashup in which structured and unstructured information is hosted on the same web CMS platform.

Structured (formal) information is created, published, and maintained external to the site and republished here; unstructured (informal) information is created using the Drupal (or an external) blog editor. The disparate content collections are linked using a common set of metadata tags.

Structured content on this site includes DITAinformationcenter, the Garage and Grocery shopping samples, and the DITA 1.2 reference documents. Unstructured information includes the blogs, announcements, and the basic pages accessed through the main menu.
